The Role

To be responsible for maintaining the day-to-day Health & Safety of the Group and supporting the Groups clinics and companies, promoting and maintaining the highest standard of customer care and service whilst promoting an environment of quality and continuous improvement.

To ensure best practice in health and safety management at all times.  Participating in activities that develop and improve central services at group level.

  • To act in full compliance with the letter and spirit of national and company legal, ethical and regulatory laws and standards.
  • To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained in line with Group policies, current HFEA Code of Practice, Information Governance guidelines and the Data Protection Act.
  • Support the Facilities Manager in all aspects of Health & safety
  • Working closely with the Group Head of Quality to continue to embed quality processes and promote continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

To advise the group of all technical and legal health and safety issues and requirements.

  • To implement a group-wide Health and Safety Policy, with associated risk assessments and documentation.
  • To establish and chair the Group Health and Safety Forum and prepare a quarterly report for the Forum including accident and incident statistics and key actions arising from health and safety audits.
  • Supporting completion and reviewing risk assessments
  • Run Risk Register reports (for quarterly Ops Meetings)
  • Provide any necessary practical assistance as part of a coordinated risk management approach.
  • To support each clinic in conducting regular health and safety audits, ensuring preventative and protective measures are in place and are effective.
  • To take responsibility for Fire Safety across the group, including but not limited to scheduling fire risk assessments and inspections, overseeing the routine testing of fire systems and assist with conducting fire drills.
  • To ensure that suitable training is provided for Risk Assessors, and that Managers are adequately trained and competent to fulfil their Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • To organise the recruitment and training of Health and Safety representatives/coordinators, Fire Wardens/Marshals, and First Aiders, ensuring sufficient resources are in place to fulfil their roles.
  • To work closely with the Group Head of Quality to support the investigation of any major incidents/accidents, ensuring that these are appropriately reported in line with Group policies, and where required, external notification is completed.
  • To collate and report re-active and pro-active performance indicators such as the number of adverse incident reports received according to category (staff/patient/public and type).
  • To set-up and ensure provision of annual liability insurance details and health & safety records.

To support and participate in activities that develop and improve central services at Group level.

  • To act in full compliance with the letter and spirit of national and company legal, ethical and regulatory laws and standards.
  • Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times in line with Group policies, current HFEA Code of Practice, Information Governance guidelines and Data Protection regulations.
  • Audit review: ensuring and supporting clinics to complete health and safety-related audits; updating the Q-Pulse quality management system, with findings and remedial and preventative actions for improvement, as required.
  • Reviewing, and where required, supporting staff to ensure that incidents/non-conformances are actioned and closed off in a timely manner.
  • Collating monthly quality reports, in conjunction with the Group Head of Quality.
  • Collaborating with the Group Head of Quality on quality improvement and governance-related processes
  • Undertaking any other related responsibilities required in this role.

Qualifications and experience

  • Good Standard of general education with a minimum of 3 years practical Health & Safety experience
  • Relevant H&S qualification, NEBOSH certificate or Diploma and IOSH Managing safety course.
  • Working knowledge of the Health & Safety at work Act 1974 and regulations relevant to the Fertility Partnership
  • Capable of implementing health & safety change and innovation
  • Provide advice and coaching on SMART performance objectives for health and safety
  • Experience of accident and incident recording, investigation and reporting health and safety issues
  • Good knowledge of Fire Manager and Risk Assessment
  • Experience of compiling and analysing data sets using in-house and external databases
  • Knowledge of planned and preventative management
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively and to meet tight deadlines
  • Skilled in building and sustaining partnering relationship across the business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise at all levels
  • A good eye for detail

  • Competent using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • A level of flexibility will be required for this role as clinic visits across UK will be expected
